Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) today said its Vice President for Sales and Marketing N K Rattan has resigned from the firm.
"After a memorable and exciting association of close to 12 years, the Board has agreed to relieve Rattan on March 10, 2012," HMSI said in a statement.
Rattan joined HMSI as Head Sales in August, 2000 and was responsible for setting up sales and marketing operations in domestic as well as international markets.
HMSI President and CEO Keita Muramatsu said: "Rattan''s extraordinary vision and leadership established HMSI and guided it to its position as the India''s most innovative and fastest growing two-wheeler company."
During his tenure, Rattan developed many business processes and sales systems like dealer management system, retail management, customer relations management and joint promotion and dispatch systems.
He was also instrumental in deciding the company''s growth plans post Honda''s exit from Hero Honda.
On his this move, Rattan said: "I have enjoyed every moment of my association with Honda which has widened my horizons. The success we have enjoyed has been largely possible to the consistent efforts of entire team and continued support by the management."
It is not known immediately where Rattan is heading, but industry speculation is that he is joining a different industry. Sources said he has cited personal reasons and expressed his willingness to move ahead for newer challenges.
HMSI has now set a target to become the country''s largest two-wheeler maker by 2020. It is constructing third unit in Karnataka after setting up the second plant in Rajasthan. PTI TR RAH
