Since the first showing of the made-for-Europe made-in-India KTM Duke 125 last year, there has been a lot of excitement about the bike and its possible higher capacity versions to be released in other markets. The company also confirmed that it will soon introduce bigger capacity variants of the baby-Duke – and the first one of the bigger Dukes’ has already rolled out in Malaysia. Launched in the end of August 2011, the made-in-India KTM Duke 200 will be imported in Malaysia via the CKD route to keep the costs under check making it a highly competitive product in its class.
The KTM Duke 200 has been in the news in India too with Bajaj Auto, part stakeholder in KTM, announcing that it will launch the bike in the country before this year end. The Indian bikers can now rejoice as the KTM Duke 200 will certainly make it to India soon and at a very enticing price, thanks to the bike being locally manufactured by Bajaj Auto at their plant in Chakan, near Pune alongside the existing Duke 125. The Indian model will remain more or less unchanged with regards to aesthetics as well as technical specifications apart from getting a quirky-looking saree-guard, courtesy imprudent regulations in the country.Times to start readying the cheque book, is it?
